Swampland techno and Darkwalkers
Mining the depths to bring up the muck and gluck, the murky waters of dub techno and the trace minerals of psychedelia [edit: He's being modest, he plays incredible high production deep techno only on vinyl because that sounds the best]Suma, Permanent Damage Records
http://soundcloud.com/search?q[fulltext]=jonah+kWith his bass-heavy and highly original performances, Jonah K has become one of the most sought-after Producers and DJ’s in Toronto’s underground electronic scene. Cutting his teeth on both the Drum and Bass and Festival circuits in the 2000’s, Jonah earned a reputation for his forward thinking track selection and seamless skills on the decks and, in recent years, has played a large role in spreading the sound of dubstep across the city.
While not performing or working in the studio, Jonah also conspires with other members of the Suma collective (www.sumantics.org) to produce unique, one-off multi-media events in Toronto (recently featuring performances by Alex Grey, Eskmo, Beats Antique, Sub Swara, Solar Fields and Deadbeat).

A dedicated musician, community organizer and educator, music has been a central focus of Mike’s all his life. DJing with a wide variety of rhythms and textures since 1999, Mike has performed alongside some of the world’s top talent over the years including Andy Huges (The Orb), Akufen, Fred Everything, Boo Williams, Jonah Sharp (Spacetime Continuum), Deadbeat, Dubtribe, Shpongle and countless others. In 2002 he teamed up with Toronto’s multi-talented Jonah K to form Dickard and Bobert, performing on four turntables, turning heads and shakin’ booties. After playing countless gigs across Canada as well as shows in the U.S. and Mexico, Mike relocated to Taipei, Taiwan in 2008 where he has been spreading his unique blend of minimal, funky techno and house.
Montreal ex-pat naw (Neil Wiernik) who currently calls Toronto his home, began composing electronic music in 1988 with explorations in audio art and experimental music. Neil's interest in sound and technology has lead him to a continued questioning and refinement of audio tools and modes of production resulting in experimentation with altered instruments, modified devices, and custom software environments. Neil's music could be described as warm, atmospheric, and cinematic electronic music. The sound design of naw is firmly grounded in the rich traditions of dub studio culture but can also be weighed alongside formal contemporary composition. His music was recently described in "The Wire" as having "...the kind of sharpness and clarity usually lost amid the murk and decay of clicks and cuts and digital delays." Neil has released music on various labels including noise factory and more recently paper+sound under his naw guise and on elevation recordings and BLRr for his most recent ambient post rock project with aidan baker as whisper room.

Mettler is known for a diversity of work in image and sound mediums – foremost for his films such as “Picture of Light” and “Gambling, Gods and LSD” but also as a photographer and groundbreaking live audio/visual mixing performer. His work bridges the gap between experimental, narrative, personal essay, and documentary. He has collaborated with an extensive range of international artists and has been honored with awards and retrospectives worldwide.
Piers Handling, Director of the Toronto International Film Festival: "Peter Mettler is an incomparable talent in Canadian cinema. The innovation and audacity of his work, his dedication to the cinematic art form, and his ability to conjure up images that remain permanently etched in one's mind, secures his place as one of this country's most distinguished contemporary filmmakers."
Spooloops is a live electronic music project of Ian James Newton, an artist whose creative output encompass music and contemporary art. Ian has coordinated legendary social interventions and interactive gatherings since 2000, mainly in his studio 'Zero to One', a multi-disciplinary art venue in Kitchener, Ontario. The music of Spooloops is an unexpected combination of booty shakin’ dance floor pleasure and deep space techno pop. He transports listeners through a kaleidoscopic journey, with zero gravity basslines where Detroit meets the Jetsons. His potent and suprising live sets are crafted using older mid-quality hardware; Roland MC505, Yamaha SU700, Korg ESX-1. Embracing the innate awkwardness and specific quirks of this gear adds a beautiful controlled loosness to the sound.
His recent sets at Mutek, Suma's winter solstice gathering and Johnny's House Party have made many new instant fans. He is currently wrapping an EP for Montreal label Monsieur Musique.
40hz Soundsystem
Last year was a blazing year for Spyne and the 40hz crew. This year has started off with nothing but the same. Bringing a more diverse mindset to the dance floor with his multiple genre, mega tempo sets. Spyne can seamlessly weave the fine threads of a mix and leave no loose ends un-tended to. Painstakingly reading the crowd and giving them what they didn't know that they needed, dancers tend to skip the next drink to stay on the floor. Spyne's selections allow people to let loose, and it shows.

Led by musique actuelle veteran Pierre Tanguay, this Quebecois group performs music inspired by folk musics from all over the world while dressed in semi-formal attire of the 1930's — fedoras, bowties and suit vests. From Klezmer, folk, and various ethnic repertories they take you on an excursion from the banks of the Black Sea, to Odessa; from the high plateaus of Araby to the islands of the Azores and on to the Holy Land of Quebec's Eastern Townships and now with a stop over at the Lion d'Or.
Deeply addicted to bass, Zumone has developed his artistic lexicon through participation in the tribal dance community. A rooted connection to the Earth has been another focus and inspiration to all his artistic projects. This is especially interesting as Zumone is a digital artist, thus this deep ecological connection creates and interesting fusion between the organic and the electronic.
As an artist, Zumone's main focus is on sound and music. However, Zumba also enjoys Photography, improvising with video, installation and spatial design. Zumone has performed in festivals, forests, film studios, clubs and art galleries throughout Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, San Francisco, Nevada, Taiwan and Switzerland. Zumba has performed alongside many of the best producers and dj's within the global electronic movement: Bassnecter, Banco de Gaia, State of Bengal, Shpongle, Vibrasphere, Adham Shaikh, Bluetech, Solar Fields, The Orb, Jonah Sharp of Space Time Continuum, and Deadbeat.
